Britanica Park School Students Earn Silver Award in the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award

We are proud to share that several of our students have been honored with the Silver Award from the prestigious Duke of Edinburgh's International Award. This recognition is the result of their hard work, their courage to take on challenges, and their drive for personal growth.

What Is the Award?

The Award programme is based on an international model of non-formal education and encourages young people to develop across four core areas:

a new skill

physical recreation

volunteering

an adventurous journey and overcoming challenges

Participation is open to young people between the ages of 14 and 24, with the programme divided into levels – Bronze, Silver, and Gold – based on the level of commitment and the duration of activities. The Award is widely recognized in more than 120 countries.

Why Does Participation in the Award Matter for Our Students?

Building soft skills– The programme fosters qualities such as leadership, teamwork, problem-solving, responsibility, and self-discipline – competencies that the standard curriculum alone cannot fully develop.

Building resilience and perseverance – To earn the Silver Award, students must sustain their commitments over the course of several months – this teaches resilience, motivation, and time management.

International recognition – The certificate is internationally recognized and can be an advantage when applying to higher education or international programmes.

Personal growth and self-discovery – Through projects, volunteering, and adventurous activities, participants step outside their comfort zones, test their limits, and discover new sides of themselves.

Contribution to the community – One of the pillars of the Award is volunteering – giving students the chance to leave a real, positive mark on their local community through their efforts.

Our Path to This Achievement

We believe it is precisely the combination of academic education and non-formal development that shapes well-rounded individuals. Britanica Park School strives not simply to educate, but to raise thoughtful, responsible, and active global citizens. Participation in the Award is a natural extension of our mission – to give our students not only knowledge, but also the skills to face the challenges of the future.

We encourage all students, especially those in the high school years, to take part in the programme – the path isn't easy, but it is highly motivating, and the change it brings is lasting.
